Reports To: Director of Information Technology
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Hours: 20 per week

Primary Purpose

Maintain and support the academic and administrative client computer systems.

Duties and Responsibilities

Primary Job Functions

  • Provide client service and assistance to faculty, staff, and students regarding computer and application use.
  • Research case-by-case solutions to functional problems.
  • Maintain and upgrade computer systems throughout campus.
  • Diagnose, fix and test hardware and software problems.
  • Utilize RadMind load sets for backup, retrieval and lab consistency.
  • Install, update and test application and system software.
  • Daily checks on version status of software.
  • Maintain records of software registrations.
  • Server and systems maintenance.
  • Configure and test new and repurposed computers with software and settings.
  • Diagnose, fix and test hardware issues.
  • Install memory and device upgrades.
  • Research and recommend hardware solutions.
  • Maintain functionality and cleanliness of computers and labs.
  • Plan and implement improvements to the creative lab environment.
  • Plan, install and test hardware and furniture for infrastructure (wireless systems, networks) and other misc projects.
  • In coordination w/ A/V Technician, develop and deliver documentation, provide seminars and workshops.
  • Provide one-on-one training and instruction to students, faculty, and staff.

Required Qualifications

  • 3 + years experience working with Macintosh and PC based computers including a thorough understanding of OSX, W98, W2000 and XP.
  • Thorough understanding of hardware and peripherals in a design, multimedia, and audio/video production environment.
  • 1 + year experience with networking, internet access, hardware / software troubleshooting and systems configuration.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with OSX Server utilities, FreeBSD and RadMind.
  • Previous work or experience with service bureaus, digital printmaking and OSX color calibration.
  • Ability to use power and hand tools in computer repair, facility development, and networking.
  • Possess a basic understanding of design, multimedia, audio/visual production, color calibration and printing, networking, diagnostics and system configuration.

Physical Requirements

Able to lift and carry fragile equipment, weighing up to 50 lbs.

Primary Purpose

Design, create, support, and manage various technologies that support the college’s main infrastructure. Oversee the maintenance, security and health of these systems to maximize productivity.

Duties and Responsibilities

Primary Job Functions

Networking: Design, build and maintain the college’s networking infrastructure. Design networking topologies, lay cable, configure switches, routers, Firewalls, DNS, proxy and other back end services that support the infrastructure.

Backend Server Support: Design, build and maintain servers that support the college’s infrastructure including file, print, email, web, proxy, DNS and backup.

Programming: Design, build and maintain relational databases that support the college’s web services. Work with Webmaster creating various web-based Ruby on Rails and PHP applications. Help with data migrations within staff offices. Create scripts and other programming routines for various servers.

Trouble-Shooting / Client Support: Be available for hands-on support of client systems within the college’s Academic technology centers. Help create and manage all programming associated with help desk, knowledge base and trouble-ticketing systems.

Additional Job Functions

Research and Development: Contribute towards short and long term technology planning including, larger infrastructure projects, policies, budgetary considerations, project management and educational modeling components.

Client Systems / Management: Install, configure and maintain client systems within the college’s Academic technology centers. Work with the college’s client system technicians to create comprehensive administrative routines for all campus Macintosh and PC systems. Coordinate with various offices/departments that need technical assistance with their computer facilities.

Educational / Program Development: Help to coordinate educational documentation. Help support staff, student and faculty development related to technology used within the college’s Academic Technology centers.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1+ Years experience with Ruby on Rails development
  • 2+ Years successful PHP programming in a production environment
  • 2+ Years developing MySQL databases
  • 3+ Years UNIX-like operating systems and associated command line tools, i.e. FreeBSD, Linux, OS X
  • 2+ Years PC hardware configuration build and test exp
  • 2+ Years Mac OS X Client/Server experience, including Workgroup Manger and OpenDirectory
  • 2+ Years exp. with heterogeneous client systems integrating Macs and PCs
  • 2+ Years web server setup and management exp
  • 2+ Years network hardware related work exp

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working at an institution of high education

Primary Purpose

Maintain and support the college’s core web and social networking presence in coordination with the college’s webmaster and Director of Information Technology.

Duties and Responsibilities

Primary Job Functions

  • Help build a new, web-based course management system for the Continuing Education department of PNCA.
  • Implement web standards as determined by the PNCA Web Style Guide, section 508b of the US accessibility code, and ad-hoc styles determined by PNCA’s Web Team.
  • Help research and develop tools that automate and streamline site maintenance or basic page production.
  • Hand-code XHTML, CSS, Ruby, PHP and MySQL to add and edit web pages throughout the college's public and private sites.

Required Qualifications

  • Web production experience.
  • Familiarity with content management, site structure management, and editorial design and display for the web.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well within a team of web professionals.
  • Experience working in higher education and/or cultural institutions is a plus.
  • Proficiency with XHTML and CSS required.
  • Advanced text editors, Photoshop, Ruby or PHP, MySQL, Unix skills preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of hardware and peripherals in a design, multimedia, and audio/video production environment.
  • 1 + year experience with networking, internet access, hardware / software troubleshooting and systems configuration.
