PNCA: Where Creativity Lives
Illustration by BFA student Jake Hollomon. [zoom]
Creativity lives. It grows and thrives on an education in art. One with small classes: where instructors have time to encourage students, hone techniques and coax ideas. It takes an education that builds and thrives on community. Where creativity can live off ample student exhibit space to the public. Where visits to local galleries, museums and festivals are frequent. Where guest lectures are commonplace and the topics and discussions are anything but. To help creativity live, it takes an institution with the kind of foundation that can only be built up from 1909 to the present. Modestly, it takes a place like Portland. Creativity is welcome here. Maybe it’s in the air or the water. Maybe Mount Hood or Forest Park. But whatever it is, this spot on the globe is an appealing homestead for creativity. And we say, let it grow.
