Carl Diehl is an artist and writer who puzzles the shifting values associated with new and obsolescent media. From video essays to installations and performance, he explores the social externalities of technological progress using re-wired rhetorical devices ranging across image, text and sound. He has exhibited his work nationally and internationally at venues including Transmediale in Berlin; the International Symposium of Electronic Art in Singapore; Other Cinema in San Francisco; Proteus Gowanus in Brooklyn; and the Portland Documentary and eXperimental Film Festival. In addition to his independent pursuits, he collaborates regularly with Weird-Fiction, an interdisciplinary arts group based in Portland, Oregon.
