Claudia Meyer presently teaches at PNCA and Clark College. Previously she had been an instructor for many years in the Graphic Design Programs at Portland Community College and Portland State University. She has taught a variety of courses including Adobe software skills as well as traditional design and illustration.

After graduating from Art Center College of Design, Claudia free-lanced as a designer and illustrator. She has been a staff illustrator for a silk screen company in Los Angeles, a digital illustrator for the Oswego Company, producing photo-realistic Illustrator drawings, and a designer/production artist. Through the years she has worked doing freelance illustration and design for agencies and clients.

Presently, beyond teaching, she pursues creating images for copperplate etchings which requires illustration skills gained during creative formative years, at Art Center College of Design, and through personal work. After many years of working on the computer it is good to go back to hand skills and exercise care of craft. Some book binding skills have also been added to the skill set. Nurturing creative impulses and furthering one’s education is important in an artist’s life.
