European Marshall Memorial Fellowship Summer 2012

PNCA’s Collaborative Design program hosted six Marshall Memorial Fund Fellows. Krystyna Wolniakowski director of the Western Partnership Office of the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation is their Portland host and accompanied them. The Fellows had diverse backgrounds and asked tough questions and offered rich insights about our Collaborative Design programs and design thinking and tackling complex problems in general. Ms. Daniela Fatarella is currently Head of Marketing and Communications
in Save the Children in Rome. Prior to this she was CEO of a newly born
branch of the international organization CBM (Christoffel Blinden Mission),
working for disabled people in developing countries. Her previous
professional experience includes fundraising and communications
consultancy to the main nonprofit organizations in Italy.

Mette Elf is currently Director of the Environmental Department at the City of
Copenhagen, Denmark. Prior, she was senior advisor to the Lord Mayor of
Copenhagen for three years, and at the end of her tenure, was acting head of the
Lord Mayor’s secretariat. As an advisor she, specialized in the areas of
sustainable urban planning, green growth policies, and international relations.

Mr. Adolfo Mesquita Nunes is currently Member of the Portuguese
Parliament. Prior to this, he was a senior lawyer in one of the biggest
Portuguese Law Firms, MLGTS (Morais Leitão, Galvão Teles, Soares da Silva
e Associados) in the areas of administrative and public procurement and
urban planning and environment.

Mr. Veselin Zahariev is currently working as Head of Corporate Finance
Department at the Bulgarian branch of KBC Securities N.V., the investment
bank part of KBC Group, Belgium. n KBC Securities, he is responsible for
managing all Equity Capital Markets and Mergers & Acquisition projects of
KBC Securities for Bulgaria and SEE.

Stéphane Distinguin graduated from ESCP Europe in 1997 and joined Deloitte &
Touche. In 1999 he participated in the creation of Up&Up, an early stage
investment fund and in 2003, he created faberNovel. As a French entrepreneur
and activist in the field of new technology and innovation Stéphane participated
in the launch of new event formats like BarCamps, MobileMondays, Cleantech
Tuesdays or TEDxParis.

Vera Marin is currently project coordinator and president of ATU – Urban
Transition Association in Bucharest, Romania. Her projects are focused on topics
such us good governance, education for sustainable development, participatory
planning, urban policies (housing, heritage protection, transport). Since 2001, she
teaches housing policy and housing theory at “Ion Mincu” University of
Architecture and Urban Planning.
