Nick Fish has served as Commissioner of the Portland Housing Bureau and Portland Parks & Recreation since 2008, most recently as Commissioner-in-charge. He launched the Portland Housing Bureau in 2010, combining all the housing programs and functions of the city under one roof, with a focus on three priorities—building and preserving affordable homes, working to end homelessness, and expanding homeownership opportunities. Under his stewardship, Portland Parks & Recreation won the National Gold Medal for the best managed parks system in the nation in 2011. Fish has served in leadership positions on the boards of the Oregon Cultural Trust, the Volunteers of America, Oregon, and the Housing Authority of Portland (now, Home Forward). He attended Harvard and Northeastern University School of Law, and is the former host of Outlook Portland with Nick Fish, a public affairs show on KRCW.
