October 26, 2011 – PORTLAND, OR – The artists, designers and scholars who make up the faculty at Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) are among the nation’s most innovative thinkers and practitioners. The 2011 Faculty Biennial celebrates and showcases the rigor, invention and excellence of their creative explorations in a salon-style exhibition that highlights both the diversity and the shared nature of the PNCA faculty.
Al Solheim to Receive The John C. Hampton Award for Leadership in the Arts

PORTLAND, OR – October 24, 2011 – “The Father of the Pearl District” and longtime Pacific Northwest College of Art board chair Albert W. “Al” Solheim has been selected to receive The John C. Hampton Award by Business for Culture and the Arts (BCA). To be presented to Solheim at the BCA’s annual Arts Breakfast of Champions on November 3, 2011, the Hampton award recognizes leadership in the arts.
Exhibition at PNCA’s Feldman Gallery Celebrates Collaborative Dance Between Printmaker and Artist

This winter in the Feldman Gallery at Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA), new Printmaking Department Chair Matthew Letzelter curates a selection of works from archives of the Jordan D. Schnitzer Collection and printed by Maurice Sanchez, the renowned founder and owner of Derriere L’Etoile Studios in New York City. For over thirty years, Sanchez’s collaborations with artists on technically challenging print works have established him as a preeminent professional printmaker and revealed the expressive and expansive range of printmaking techniques. The Behind the Star exhibition includes print works from some of Sanchez’s many successful collaborations, such as those by artists James Rosenquist, Donald Judd, Barbara Kruger, Robert Longo, John Baldessari, Red Grooms and Kara Walker.
