Thomas Zummer Comes to PNCA for Artist Residency and Exhibition

PORTLAND, OR – JUNE 12, 2012 – The Feldman Gallery + Project Space and the Low-Residency MFA in Visual Studies at the Pacific Northwest College of Art bring internationally acclaimed philospher and artist Thomas Zummer to Portland in June for a residency, lecture, and exhibition of his works entitled, a partial retrospective of works I should have done, which opens June 21 with a reception at 5:30 pm in the Gallery and runs through August 5, 2012. The exhibition spans the course of Zummer’s career with more than 30 drawings, prints, and sculptures. Zummer’s work is enriched by the fruits of his rigorous philosophical investigations and critical theoretical work focusing on continued exploration of ideas of Michel Foucault, for whom Zummer was a research assistant at Berkeley, and the history of technology including his obsession with robots.

PNCA Receives Gift of Memory 99 for its Permanent Collection
Lee Kelly’s large-scale sculpture to be a gateway to Emerging Cultural Corridor in North Park Blocks
PORTLAND, OR – JUNE 6, 2012 – At its 10th annual gala on Saturday, June 2, Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) announced that it had received a gift to its permanent art collection of an important work by alumnus Lee Kelly ‘59. The Ford Family Foundation gave the College a special, one-time gift to acquire Kelly’s Memory 99 as part of the Foundation’s evolving Visual Arts program established to honor the interests and memory of one of its co-founders, Mrs. Hallie Ford. Memory 99 is intended to be installed in the North Park Blocks in proximity to PNCA’s Arlene and Harold Schnitzer Center for Art and Design (511 NW Broadway) for which the College just announced a capital campaign and lead gift of $5 million from The Harold & Arlene Schnitzer CARE Foundation.

PORTLAND, OR – June 3, 2012 – On Saturday, June 2, Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) held its 10th annual Gala, Transformation, and successfully raised more than $465,000 in sponsorships and special appeal gifts. These contributions provide vital support for PNCA’s students, faculty, and programs. In addition, the event helps support programs and exhibitions at Museum of Contemporary Craft, which has operated in partnership with PNCA since 2009.

PORTLAND, OR – June 3, 2012 – At its 10th annual gala on Saturday, June 2, Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) announced the launch of a $15 million philanthropic campaign, CREATIVITY WORKS HERE, in support of its strategic move to renovate the historic former federal post office at 511 NW Broadway and to anchor the PNCA campus on the North Park Blocks in downtown Portland.
