PNCA Presents A Painted Lens

Portland, OR—March 18, 2014—Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) presents A Painted Lens, an exhibition of works by San Francisco-based painter Edmund Wyss opening April 3, 2014 and running through May 2, 2014. The exhibition brings together several of Wyss’ detailed renderings of photographic equipment in PNCA’s Swigert Commons. Wyss’s perspectives are idealized, resulting in a shallow depth of field and producing exploded views of mechanical cameras and lenses that might be seen in a more romantic version of a technical manual. The works are painted without a trace of narrative and resist classification as still life. The images call to be viewed from multiple angles, from afar to perceive the image’s painted form and up close to appreciate the meticulous and active brushwork.

Illuminations Spring Reading Series of Native American Writers

Release date: 03/03/14

PORTLAND, OR – March 3, 2014 – Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) in collaboration with Museum of Contemporary Craft presents the Illuminations Spring Reading Series in conjunction with the Museum’s exhibition This Is Not A Silent Movie: Four Contemporary Alaska Native Artists. The series of readings at the Museum features Native American poets and writers, including Elizabeth Woody, Trevino Brings Plenty, and Stephen Graham Jones.
