Pre-College Program: Academics
July 5 – July 23, 2010
Spend your summer creating, making and learning art in Portland. Pre-College Studios students are engaged with faculty, visiting artists and each other to push the boundaries of their work. From working in new mediums to perfecting existing techniques, students create art that is dynamic, inventive and creative. The Pre-College Studios culminates with a public show of student artwork and every student leaves with a digital portfolio created during the program.

Portland, Oregon
A city like no other, Portland is a progressive, safe and affordable urban center known for its independent spirit, innovative mindset and creative industries including Nike, Adidas North America, Wieden + Kennedy, Ziba Design, Dark Horse Comics and Laika Animation. Portland has a vibrant art, music, culinary and literary scene. Pre-College Studios are in the heart of Portland’s Pearl District, home to galleries, cafes and an array of interesting people and places.
Visiting Artists
Pre-College studios gives you the rare opportunity to engage with a number of visiting artists throughout the program. Past presenters include Dan Attoe, Carson Ellis, Wei Hsueh, Jessica Hutchins, Rebekah Miles, Jenene Nagy, Melody Owen, Storm Tharp, Marie Watt, and Paul Wells.
Year Round Offerings
The Pre-College academic offerings include a rotating schedule of courses for students ages 14-18. Many of these selections are offered for one college credit and allow high school students become familiar with PNCA’s college instruction and atmosphere. Current classes.
