Special Events and Programs

The PNCA Youth Program and Continuing Education host a variety of special programs and events throughout the school year and summer, including specialized workshops, collaborative classes with Portland-based non-profits, and community events.

Annual Youth Exhibition

At the beginning of each academic year, our Faculty vote on a theme for our Youth Program Exhibition and Art Project. During Fall and Spring term, Youth Program students create a work or works of art inspired by our chosen theme. These works will be kept at PNCA for inclusion in our annual exhibition each year at the conclusion of the school year.

Our 2015 Exhibition theme focused on conservation and environmental concerns. You can see our students exploring this theme in the fall of 2014 in the following video. Each instructor takes a different approach to our program’s chosen themes each year, which typically yields interesting project results and classroom conversations.

Students in MaryEllen Hartman’s 7-8 year old class learn about bugs and the valuable role they play in our ecosystem. A lively discussion ensues.
