Our first art show of the new academic year in the “Hallway” features work by Continuing Education Staffer and Instructor Sara Kaltwasser. The show features her recent soccer paintings and works on Oklahoma, including her series of mixed media paintings on the Race Riots in Tulsa during the early half of the last century. Stop in and see her fantastic art.
PNCA Continuing Education is thrilled to announce our first endorsement program in Pattern Design and Printmaking. With a focus on handprinting techniques and composition and a special emphasis on fabric design, the endorsement was created in collaboration with fabric designer and printmaker Lizzy House, Dean Melissa McClure, PNCA Continuing Education faculty and staff.
“We are really excited about the potential of smaller scale fabric printing and its importance in the textiles both for art and commerce,” says CE’s Joshua Moon. “It isn’t only services like spoonflower that make this an exciting time, but the success of handprinted small scale fabric businesses and niche sub-industries around the globe inspired us to create this course of study.”
The program consists of a combination of workshops and classes that are scheduled to enable both residents of the Portland area and out-of-towners to participate.
Because of its flexible nature, the endorsement requirements can be fulfilled in as few as nine months or at a slower pace of up to two years.
Successful completion of the Pattern Design & Printmaking program will include a professional portfolio of work, reviewed by instructors and the awarding of a formal endorsement from PNCA.
This new program is ideal for aspiring surface designers, graphic designers who want to delve into pattern design and printing, and hobbyists who want to explore the art-forms more intensively.
