The Faculty Senate is the governing body for the PNCA Faculty. The Senate recommends, reviews, and approves policies and procedures integral to fulfilling the mission of the College.
The Senate works to: maintain and improve curricular offerings in line with PNCA’s Mission and Core Themes; advise the administration on issues pertaining to the professional welfare of the faculty and the academic welfare of the students; advise the administration on new programs and other new efforts that affect curriculum; and address budgetary issues relevant to faculty concerns. The Senate provides a means by which any matter of general interest to the Faculty or pertaining to the institution and its purpose may be brought to the Senate for discussion and appropriate action. The mission of the Senate also is carried out through a number of committees and councils that report to the Senate.
The Senate prioritizes clear and productive communication between faculty and all other community members at PNCA: students, staff, administration, and the Board of Directors. The Faculty Senate works to ensure a committed, engaged, informed and respected faculty body and a strong faculty voice in College proceedings.
PNCA Staff Council, in collaboration with Faculty Senate and Student Councils, supports staff as educators and learners, and provides an open forum for effective communication. Our top priorities are advocacy for Compensation, Professional Development, Community Building, and Standardization of Institutional Policy and Procedures. We advise senior leadership in matters affecting staff, and serve as a representative voice for one another in the shared governance of the college.
PNCA’s Student Council provides a forum for undergraduate students to share information on issues of interest, voice opinions on improvements to student life, and allocate a portion of student fees for activities and clubs. Student Council meets every week in a town hall format. All who attend get a vote on budget allocation and a delicious lunch. As the largest student-run forum on campus, PNCA’s Student Council provides a forum to develop organizational and leadership skills beyond the classroom.
Graduate Student Council
Graduate Student Council works to enrich the experience of students at PNCA and serves as a voice for the Hallie Ford School of Graduate Studies students to the wider PNCA community. It fosters community among graduate programs, funds opportunities and projects that have benefits for the individuals, programs, and the Hallie Ford School of Graduate Studies as a whole, and represents the graduate programs to the Faculty Senate.
