Program Description

At the intersection of digital media, material objects, design systems, and human interaction.

Preparing to enter this diverse, ever-evolving field, in Interactive Design you learn to research, design, prototype, and build mobile experiences, social networks, apps, games, wearable devices - any and all things where experience and interaction with a user are central. Embedded in this dynamic studio experience is the study of research tactics, audience and culture awareness, media literacy, and design psychology.

You'll learn about the historical roots of interactive design, developing an essential understanding of its role in design history and contemporary culture. Building on this contextual foundation, you will explore the basics of prototyping in both a digital and analog framework, structuring and organizing information, computer languages, and the study of “how things work”.

You'll have in-depth opportunities for designing solutions and systems for real world prompts and projects, integrating user experience with communication design. Embedded in this dynamic studio experience is the study of research tactics, audience and culture awareness, media literacy, and design psychology.
