FAQ

Below are the most frequently asked questions I receive from parents and incoming students. If you do not see the answer to your question below, please contact me directly at gmurphy_reslife@pnca.edu. Thank you!

August 21st

Initial roommate placements will begin in mid-June. When the first round is done, an email will go out introducing matched roommates. Please know that this is subject to change as more people apply throughout the summer. It is a SOFT placement.

We process each application by hand, once every 1-2 weeks (depending on how busy things are!) If it has been longer than that window, please email Grace at gmurphy_reslife@pnca.edu. You should have received three emails: one with general information (including a recommended items list), one with info on how to pay your deposit, and one a custom deposit link.

Please contact studentaccounts@pnca.edu for assistance regarding your deposit.

Both forms allow people to go in and edit their responses. If you cannot do so, please fill it out again and let me know that you’ve done so twice! Remember, you must be logged into your PNCA email to access both forms.

No, no one is allowed to move in prior to move in day on August 21st.

Yes, BUT, you must let us know prior to sending the package, and they may ONLY arrive one day prior to move-in day. We will not hold packages if they arrive sooner than that.

ArtHouse has studio, two bedroom and three bedroom floor plans.

Yes, the apartments do come furnished. The units will have a bed (size: twin extra long), desk, couch (not all studios have couches), dining room table and chairs. The units also include appliances: full size washer and dryer, dishwasher, refrigerator, oven, stove and microwave.

The apartments do not include items such as linens, pots and pans, dishes…etc. If you are interested in a short term rental for these types of items, we have worked with CORT in the past. Please contact the Property Manager for more information if you are interested.

Yes, the standard security deposit is $300 per tenant. This deposit is refundable, less cleaning and damage expenses.

No, ArtHouse does not have any parking on site. There is a parking garage next to the facility that offers monthly parking. This lot is managed by City Center Parking and is typically around $230 a month.

Portland is an extremely bicycle and pedestrian friendly city. Additionally, there are plenty of public transportation options to get around town and to the surrounding metro areas. Please visit www.trimet.org and use their trip planner to explore public transportation options to your destination.

ArtHouse is a pet free building. Service animals and ESAs must be certified and all appropriate forms and paperwork must be completed and turned in PRIOR to move-in.

Housing Policy

Mandatory Housing Policy and Exception Request Process

New PNCA undergraduates must reside in ArtHouse for the entire first year at PNCA unless they qualify for an exemption or successfully petition for an exception. Exemptions are granted for students who are married or who are living with parents or legal guardians within 30 miles of campus. On a case-by-case basis, the College will review requests for exceptions to this policy based on extraordinary circumstances (e.g., medical issue)
