Joseph M. Erceg 1933 - 2018
PNCA alumnus, former faculty, and award-winning graphic designer Joe Erceg '55 died in his home June 16. Joe graduated from the University of Portland, but it was as a student at the Museum Art School (now PNCA) that he discovered his love of graphic design. Joe was a long-time fixture of the Portland design community. His refined sense of shape and structure resulted in iconic logos including Columbia Sportswear and AirWest Airlines and in work for many companies including the original Lloyd Center. Joe was an avid photographer and part of Minor White's workshops at the school and museum in the late 50s and early 60s. Read the full obituary here.
Irvin Russell Jolliver 1922 - 2018
Beloved artist and teacher Irvin Russell Jolliver '48 passed away on May 28 at the age of 95. Irvin came to the Museum Art School (now PNCA) after serving in the army. Soon after graduating, he joined the faculty and taught ceramics to a generation of students. Later, he went on to teach at Hudson's Bay High School where he was selected for the National Endowment for the Humanities Faculty. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to PNCA.
