Artist Modou Dieng in Conversation with Matthew Letzelter and Sharita Towne

The Hallie Ford School of Graduate Studies Lecture Series welcomes Chicago-based artist Modou Dieng on November 4th, 2020, 6:30 pm. Modou will be in conversation with PNCA faculty Sharita Towne and Matthew Letzelter. The conversation can be seen on Zoom or PNCA’s Youtube Live Channel.

Modou will talk about his current curatorial project with blackpuffin that is taking place in Dakar, Senegal, titled, You are beautiful the way you are and his upcoming solo show at Elizabeth Leach gallery, titled, A postcolonial landscape.

Modou Dieng was born in Saint-Louis, Senegal. He is a multidisciplinary artist exploring the symbolic and mythological power of pop-culture through mixed media and hybrid materials. His work constructs a mural of archetypal cultural imagery filtered through the perspective of a split identity between Blackness and Western Philosophy. Dieng has exhibited internationally and is the co-founder of Blackpuffin a curatorial company based in Chicago. Dieng holds an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute.
