PNCA Professor Jodie Cavalier Selected as a Leland Iron Works 2018 “Gold Spot” Artist-in-Residence
About the Leland Iron Works Program
A partnership between venerable Portland artist, Lee Kelly '59 and the College, PNCA’s Leland Iron Works Residency Program awards five one-month residencies to mid-career practicing Oregon artists and four one-month residencies for students and emerging artists at Leland Iron Works, Kelly’s long-time home, studio, and rustic sculpture garden.
The goal of the LIW Residency Program is to support and invest in practicing and emerging artists whose work will impact Oregon’s cultural landscape. A one-month residency at LIW provides participating artists with the time, space, and opportunity to take their work to the next level and to experiment with material and processes in a uniquely Oregonian environment. Residents share their work with younger artists and PNCA students through artist talks, classroom critiques, and possible collaborations.
To celebrate Juneteenth, PNCA will be partnering with Teressa Raiford and Don't Shoot Portland with the support of Portland Art Museum to run a week-long art and activism summer camp for kids, primarily kids from underserved communities as well as kids with disabilities.
Congratulations to PNCA Alumnus Demian DinéYazhi´'13, one of five Oregon artists named a 2018 Hallie Ford Fellow in the Visual Arts.
