Now more than ever, what we do at Pacific Northwest College of Art matters – to our students, to our community, and to PNCA’s donors.

This spring and summer, thanks to the generosity of our amazing community, our Special Appeal raised over $425,000 in support of our students. Thank you so much to our Special Appeal donors.

Now, as we close our Special Appeal and enter the fall semester, your support remains crucial to helping our students thrive. This fall, you can designate your gift for unrestricted support, or give directly to essential student resources that help keep a PNCA education accessible and more affordable to students—PNCA Equity Scholarships and institutional scholarships.

Your support helps our students meet today’s challenges and the future with strength and resilience, and sustains PNCA’s role in fueling the region’s thriving creative community. Thank you!

Center of Creativity Awardees

We were unable to gather in person to celebrate our inaugural PNCA Center of Creativity Awardees at the Gala as we had planned this year — however, we are proud to now present the following booklet in honor of our award recipients, recognizing their contributions in support of the college and their work advocating for and advancing arts and culture in our community and beyond.

Thank you to our Gala sponsors who have remained committed to the Special Appeal

At PNCA, we are committed to building a supportive, inclusive, and equitable culture in which all voices are empowered and heard. We are committed to creating a space where Black students, Indigenous students, and students of color are set up to thrive. PNCA’s Equity Scholarships for BIPoC (Black, Indigenous, and people of color) students are an integral part of this mission. These new scholarships will benefit students for fall 2020 and through their time at PNCA.

For fall 2020, 19 BIPoC students with extraordinary academic promise and high financial need received Equity Scholarships. All scholarships are renewable to ensure student recipients are able to return each year to complete their degrees and graduate.

PNCA has committed to awarding nine new Equity Scholarships for incoming students each year moving forward.

Equity Scholarships Awarded to BIPoC students in Fall 2020

  • Two full tuition renewable scholarships were awarded to undergraduate students and two were awarded to graduate students.
  • Ten $5,000 renewable scholarships were awarded to undergraduate students, four were awarded to graduate students, and one was awarded to a Post-Baccalaureate student.

For further information about Equity Scholarships, please contact the PNCA Office of Advancement, or visit

Institutional scholarships (tuition discounts) are awarded to applicants who demonstrate outstanding creative abilities and scholarly achievement; financial need is considered for some scholarships. PNCA grants are also awarded through scholarship funds, and are available to assist students who have remaining financial need after all applicable federal and state grants have been awarded.

New Tax Benefits for Giving

Congress enacted new Tax Benefits through the CARES Act for charitable donations in calendar year 2020.

Congress enacted new Tax Benefits through the CARES Act for charitable donations in calendar year 2020:

  • Taxpayers who typically take the standard deduction on their tax returns can claim a brand new “above-the-line” deduction of up to $300 for cash donations to an eligible charity, including PNCA.
  • Those who itemize their taxes can now deduct up to 100% of their adjusted gross income (AGI) for charitable donations made in 2020. Generally, deductions for charitable donations are limited to 60% of your AGI.
  • Corporations can now deduct up to 25% of their taxable income for charitable donations made during 2020. This is an increase from the usual corporate donation limit of 10% of taxable income.
